Castles Reference Photos - MEGAPACK

980 Photos from my holiday in Wales in early 2016. I had no plans for these photos when I took them, but I was very excited to see real castles for the first time in my life so I took a lot of them.

IMAGE QUALITY

These are JPG files, most of which are uncropped at 5472 x 3648 pixels. All were originally taken handheld with an old compact camera in RAW format (Canon Powershot G3 X), so while the original quality isn't great, I have been able to recover some detail by lifting the shadows and adjusting the highlights and overall clarity. However, shots taken in low light (eg: cloudy days) are softer, and dark indoor spaces are very noisy/grainy. Please look at the cover images for samples to help you determine whether this bundle is suitable for your needs.

UNSUITABLE FOR STOCK/EDITORIAL USE:

Due to the mixed quality of these images, and the fact that some of them depict private property, they are not suitable for use as editorial photos, or as stock photos without adaptation. I am releasing them primarily as reference photos for fantasy landscape & character painters, and for 3D artists/modelers.

• Beaumaris (93 photos) - 13th century

• Caernarfon (89 photos) - 13th/14th centuries. Repaired in the 19th century, used for Royal occasions in the 20th century

• Caerphilly (67 photos) - 13th century. The largest castle in Wales.

• Cardiff (23 photos) - 12th century, with reconstructed Roman walls and gatehouse.

• Carew (61 photos) - 12th/13th centuries

• Chepstow (86 photos) - 11th-13th centuries, oldest surviving post-Roman stone fort in Britain.

• Conwy (137 photos) - 13th century, World Heritage Site and my personal favourite.

• Dolwydellan (32 photos) - 13th-15th centuries, restored/modified in the 19th century

• Harlech (66 photos) - 13th century

• Kidwelly (35 photos) - 12th century, location for filming 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'

• Pembroke (46 photos) - 12th-13th centuries

• Raglan (88 photos) - 15th century, reinforced and besieged during the 17th century English Civil War

• Rhuddlan (63 photos) - 13th century

• Tretower (28 photos) - 12th-13th centuries
